How It Works

→ Why Opening Prices Matter
The STRAT Foundation
In The STRAT methodology, where a period opens defines its directional bias. Price above the weekly open is weekly bullish. Price below the monthly open is monthly bearish. These levels become natural support, resistance, and reaction zones throughout the period. sX Opens makes every period's open visible on any timeframe in seconds.
01
Fetch Open Prices
For each enabled timeframe, the indicator uses request.security() to fetch the opening price of the current bar on that TF. Daily open updates at 9:30 ET; weekly at Monday open; monthly at the first trading day of the month.
02
Draw Lines
A horizontal line is drawn at each open price, extending left and right by the configured bar counts. Line style, color, and width come from the display settings for each TF.
03
Label Placement
Labels appear at the right end of each line. When Show Price Value is ON, the label shows 'TF $price' (e.g. '4Hr 433.10'). When OFF, it shows only the TF ('4Hr'). Label offset is adjustable in bars.
04
Summary Table (Optional)
When Show Table is ON, an on-chart table displays all open values for a quick reference without needing to read individual line labels.

Pro Tips

Price Above = Bullish, Below = Bearish
For any timeframe: if price is above that period's open, the bias is bullish for that TF. If below, bearish. Stack multiple opens to find where all TFs agree.
Weekly Open is the Most Important Level
The weekly open is the single most referenced open level in STRAT trading. Markets test and react to the weekly open repeatedly throughout the week. Keep it always visible.
Stack with sX OHLC for Full Context
Opens tells you where each period started. OHLC tells you the full range. Together: you can see whether price is above the daily open but below the daily 50% — a nuanced bias read.
Use the Table for Morning Prep
Glance at the table before the open to know where the daily, weekly, and monthly opens sit relative to each other. This defines the multi-timeframe bias in one look.
Disable TFs You Don't Need
Quarterly and yearly opens matter for longer-term traders. Day traders can disable them and keep only Daily, 4H, and Weekly visible.
